CCTV move hailed in Shillong City

Shillong: The local dorbar initiative to start installing cctv cameras has been taken in a good stead by the agencies involved in monitoring the law-and-order situation in Shillong city. More and more localities in Shillong have been installing cctv cameras in their neighbourhoods. All those locality elders told this correspondent that it is part of checking growling crimes in their respective domain. A senior police official told this correspondent that the durbar shnongs move will go a long way in checking unwanted crimes in the city. Already, all the main junctions of Shillong city, are under cctv surveillance. Speaking to The Sentinel this evening, State Minister of Urban Affairs Hamlet Dohling said it is a healthy move by the traditional bodies to make the city more safer. The Minister also gave hope that the implementation of the Smart City project will further add to the extension of cctv coverage in Shillong.
