SHILLONG: Meghalaya recorded another COVID-19 positive case on Monday, authorities informed.

With the detection of this case, the State has recorded 15 COVID-19 cases out of which 12 have recovered, 1 succumbed to the virus and two are active cases.

"Another person who had travelled from Chennai along with the 14th case has turned out to be COVID-19 positive," Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma tweeted.

Sangma also informed that the person was in isolation since the day of arrival.

"The person is presently in Resubelpara under institutional isolation and medical observation," the Chief Minister added.

Meanwhile, State Health Minister AL Hek informed that till Monday the number of samples sent for testing was 6,353, out of which 5,238 cases were reported to be negative, the results of 1,100 samples are awaited.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong informed that so far around 9,500 stranded residents have reached the State.

Tynsong also said that on Tuesday a train from Rajasthan with 225 people and another from Andhra Pradesh with 215 will leave the respective places for Guwahati Railway Station, also another train from Delhi with 500 people and another from Kerala with 510 will start on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister also informed that the State government has issued a notification for those people of the state who want to travel to other parts of the country.

He said that such persons can contact DTO Shillong – 8787561584, DTO Tura – 7005531765, Motor Vehicle Inspector, Shillong - 8787776147, Motor Vehicle Inspector, Tura - 9774706399 for booking of transport.

"The transportation will be available on payment basis," Tynsong added.

He also said that the government has set up dedicated numbers to people of Meghalaya stranded outside the State.

Those stranded outside the state can contact Assistant Commissioner Transport – 7005629354, Deputy General Manager, Meghalaya Transport Corporation, Tura – 8974254116 and another officer Nongbri 9436103308.

Meanwhile, on the incident that occurred at Danapur Railway Station, Bihar wherein a special train bound for Nagaland from Gurugram was mobbed by another set of migrants, Tynsong said that the moment the government came to know about it Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma spoke to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.

He also said that the Chief Secretary, MS Rao spoke to his Bihar counterpart.

"We don't say that we are sure 100 percent will be fine but whatever information we receive immediate action is taken," the Deputy Chief Minister said.
