Commissionerate of Police in Shillong City on the cards

Shillong: Shillong city may soon have a Commissionerate of Police. A well placed source told The Sentinel on Tuesday that the proposal made by the police headquarters is under consideration by the government.

As per the proposal, the Commissionerate of Police will be of the rank of a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and he will be assisted by three to four Superintendent of Police. Going by the source, there could be SPs for metro, rural and traffic besides others under the Commissionerate of Police. Sources in the State Secretariat have also re- confirmed about the file that is doing the rounds in Department of Home.
