COVID: Meghalaya records 8 deaths, 495 new cases

SHILLONG: Meghalaya recorded eight new COVID-19 deaths, 495 new infections and 453 recovered from the virus, till the time of filing this report.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War informed that of the eight new deaths, seven were from East Khasi Hills and one from East Garo Hills.

With the latest figures, the number of fatalities has mounted to 758, the active cases are 4,464 and a total of 38,032 persons have recovered so far from the virus.

Of the 495 new cases, East Khasi Hills recorded 122, South West Khasi Hills (91), West Garo Hills (74), Ri-Bhoi (64), North Garo Hills (32), East Garo Hills (26), West Jaintia Hills (23), South Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills 20 each, South West Garo Hills (19) and East Jaintia Hills four.

The district-wise distribution of active cases are - East Khasi Hills (1503), West Garo Hills (699), West Jaintia Hills (585), Ri-Bhoi (367), South West Khasi Hills (284), North Garo Hills (255), South West Garo Hills (238), East Garo Hills (186), West Khasi Hills (159), South Garo Hills (119) and East Jaintia Hills (69).

The district-wise distribution of fatalities due to the virus are – East Khasi Hills (587), West Jaintia Hills (61), West Garo Hills (37), Ri-Bhoi (22), East Jaintia Hills (15), West Khasi Hills (11), South West Garo Hills (eight), North Garo Hills (six), East Garo Hills and South Garo Hills four each and South West Khasi Hills three.
