CRPF lauded for mob control skills

Shillong, June 9: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Saturday said its men exercised maximum restraint in spite of extreme provocation during an attack on its camp by rioters recently. On January 3, the CRPF camp situated at Mawlai bridge was attacked during the riots which started at Motphran area. The protestors pelted stones, lobbed petrol bombs and injured a few CRPF troops. According to IG, CRPF, NES, Prakash D, the para-military force gave a fitting reply to the stone-pelters by using minimum force and dispersing them without resorting to lethal weapons. “This act of restraint was praised by everyone including the police and army commanders,” Parkash said. The IGP NES visited the camp and felicitated 11 officers and men who had shown professional competence in dealing with the rioters. The men felicitated were - Pramod Kumar, Rohit Kumar, Salunke Raja Ram Natha, Mir Khan Bhai, KC Dalai, Ajay Pratap, Manish Kumar, Kareppa B I, Tarapad Roy, Indra Mani and Khargadhar Deka. IGP said all the CRPF Coy Camps are being reinforced with latest anti-riot equipment and ammunitions.
