CRPF sets up joint control room for effective communication

Shillong: A joint control room (JCR) for effective communication and coordination between the Central forces and State Force was inaugurated on Friday by IGP, CRPF Prakash D at MPRO Golf Links, here. All the senior officers of CRPF, BSF, SSB, State nodal officers and Meghalaya DIGP AR Mawthoh Police were present in the inaugural function. This JCR will work round the clock and will monitor all the election-related activities in Meghalaya. A similar JCR was also established last year during the Meghalaya Assembly polls, which was very effective and the fact was acknowledged by the Election Commission of India also.

A briefing was given to all the officers by IGP, CRPF. He insisted on conducting a free, fair and credible Lok Sabha polls in the State of Meghalaya. Area domination exercises, visibility and mobility of the forces were discussed upon. The IGP asked the officers to prepare communication, transportation and accommodation plans for the CAPF during the Lok Sabha polls in Meghalaya. Communication shadow regions were asked to be identified so that alternate means of communication may be utilized. The officers were asked to increase patrolling in the interstate border with Assam and the international border with Bangladesh.
