SHILLONG: After former Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Dr DD Lapang made it clear that he is not returning to the Congress. Presently the people of the State are waiting for his next move.
In his resignation letter addressed to AICC president, Rahul Gandhi, Lapang had made it clear that he would continue to serve the party, the State and its people in the same manner wherever he was. The veteran leader also said that the spirit and enthusiasm to work for the people is still burning inside him.
A day after his resignation Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and National President of the National People’s Party (NPP) hinted that his party was ready to welcome the veteran leader saying, “People with such track record, experience, and knowledge can be used in so many ways.” Even Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson and in-charge Meghalaya Nalin Kohli said that,”The party welcomes anyone who would work for the nation.”
When specifically asked if the BJP would welcome Lapang, Kohli had said, “The BJP’s principle has been sabka saath sabka vikaas so we welcome anyone who wants to join the national mainstream with regard to working for the nation etc.”
