SHILLONG: The South West Khasi Hills District unit of Khasi Students' Union (KSU) has urged the Border Security Force (BSF) to ensure that the borders are properly sealed and no illegal and unregulated exchange of commodities between people of India and Bangladesh take place especially during this pandemic phase.

The KSU has urged the BSF to enforce strict protocols along the international border in the wake of reports of detection of COVID 19 positive case in Dhormopur village in Sunamganj district of Bangladesh, just 500 metres from Ryngku market in Mawsynram Block, East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.

The KSU said that in view of the proximity of such an affected village, it is mandatory that all protocols to safeguard the people (of the State) from the spread of the disease are enforced and it cannot be just ruled out that the villages in Meghalaya are safe from the effects of the pandemic in Bangladesh.
