SHILLONG: The flower business in Meghalaya has felt the pinch of the lockdown. A visit to the gardens in areas like Mawreng, Sadew and it's adjacent areas reveals the slow rot of the wonderful flowers which could have made it into the blossoming market of the spring season.

"In fact this is season for our big business because of the marriage ceremonies and other religious congregation. Everything has come to a halt", stated gardener Gabrril Marbaniang.

Their investments, amounting to thousands of rupees, have gone down the drain in the past two months. The florist shops have already gone dry right from Laitumkrah, Umsohsun, Rynjah and other areas of Shillong city.
