Guwahati: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma Saturday inaugurated the new National People's Party (NPP) office in the Manipuri capital Imphal today.

The Deputy of Manipur, Yumnam Joykumar Singh, Cabinet Ministers from National People' Party and party members also attended the inaugural ceremony. 

"NPP is committed more than ever to serve the people of Manipur and Northeast", said Sangma in a tweet.

It is to be mentioned that the National People's Party (NPP) is one of the major coalition partners of the BJP Government in the Northeast Indian region. The party was founded by P A Sangma after his expulsion from the NCP in July 2012. It was accorded national party status on 7 June 2019.

In a related development, Sangma recently laid the foundation stone for the NPP's new office headquarters in Meghalaya. The foundation stone laying ceremony was held in the presence of NPP State president and Rajya Sabha MP, Dr. WR Kharlukhi, DD Lapang, Chief Adviser, Government of Meghalaya, Baldith Sangma, and the office bearers of the national committee of the party.
