SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday exhorted the citizens of the State to live beyond the planting of trees to conserve the environment. Sangma was speaking to newspersons soon after planting tree saplings at Wards Lake to mark the World Environment Day. "Let us protect our environment, apart from planting trees and nurturing them, it is important to start in our day to day life in the form of saving water, electricity and reducing carbon emission," stated the Meghalaya Chief Minister. Commenting on the COVID situation, Conrad Sangma said that the nature has its own way and a lot of people are talking about it."People have suffered a lot. However, if you look from the other side the less of economic activities has also made the environment cleaner," he asserted. The Chief Minister also felt that there should be a sustain effort to make the environment clean post COVID.
