Meghalaya Health Minister AL Hek willing to contest Lok Sabha Election

A Reporter

SHILLONG: State Health Minister AL Hek and BJP MLA from Pynthorumkhrah constituency has expressed his willingness to contest the Lok Sabha election in 2019 from Shillong Parliament seat if the central leadership of the party in Delhi offers him a ticket.

Speaking to this reporter, Hek said that the BJP till today are seeking for a candidate to contest the 2019 MP polls from Shillong seat as the party has its branch spread out across the country..

“I have been preparing myself if the party chooses me to contest the Lok Sabha election,” he said.

When asked if this will affect the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government, if the BJP is fielding its own candidate, he pointed out that even in the recent Assembly by-election at Ranikor all the political parties within the MDA coalition had fielded their own candidates, however that did not affect the stability of the government.

“Hence when we talk about the Lok Sabha election this will also not affect the MDA government,” he said. Further he said that in case the BJP does not field a candidate in the Lok Sabha election slated for next year, then the party in the state will support a common candidate of the MDA.
