Meghalaya Reports another Covid-19 Case; Tally Climbs to 15

Guwahati:

Meghalaya reported another case of the Covid-19 after a man from the state who had returned from Chennai tested positive on Monday, taking the overall tally in the state to 15. 

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed that the man had travelled from Chennai along with the 14th case in the state. "The person was in isolation since the day of arrival. Person is presently in Resubelpara under institutional isolation and medical observation", Sangma said in a tweet. Sangma also stated that that last two cases have come from the Erode district of Tamil Nadu and they were in the same institute there. A single person in the state, the index patient, has died due to complications from the respiratory disease.

This development has come to the fore moments after Nagaland reported 3 positive cases, the first in the state. Meanwhile, the numbers in the Northeast Indian states continue to spike upwards.

In Tripura, 3 more persons were tested positive for the novel coronavirus yesterday, taking the tally of cases to 194. Officials said, out of 991 samples tested yesterday, three persons, who had returned from Delhi by Rajdhani Express, were found positive. So far, 175 patients have been discharged from hospital after recovery.

Sikkim on Friday also reported its first case of the virus, after a UPSC-aspirant who had returned from Delhi tested positive. Assam continues to lead the number of cases in the region and has reported 466 cases of the virus, and 4 deaths so far. Manipur has so far reported 32 cases.

India has now reported 1,38,845 cases of the coronavirus, including 77,103 active cases, 57,720 cured/discharged and 4,021 deaths.
