NEHU teachers’ union (NEHUTA) seeks reply from Vice-Chancellor

Shillong: The North-Eastern Hill University Teachers’ Association (NEHUTA) has expressed its deep concern at repeated violation of act, statute and ordinances of the university by incumbent Vice-Chancellor Prof SK Srivastava. In a recent letter to the Vice-Chancellor, the NEHUTA sought an official response from the administration on ‘instances of grave violation such as non-release of NEHUTA annual grant, which is part of university’s earmarked funds during the years 2018-19 and the current year as well.

Grave violation of provisions of the act such as clause 19 (2) (a) and (b) that necessitates discussion on performance of the university as well as passage of annual report and annual accounts along with audit report before these are placed to the Parliament, said NEHUTA.

Further the incumbent Vice-Chancellor violated statutes such as 11(1) that makes it mandatory for the Vice-Chancellor to place a report on the workings of the university, which has not been done last three years at least, stated NEHUTA.

Given these serious violations of act and statute of the university, the NEHUTA seeks intervention of higher authorities to bring back some semblance of proper functioning of the university.
