North-Eastern Hill University Stakeholders up Ante Against VC, Registrar

Shillong: North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) represented by their Three sections of stakeholders of the respective associations and unions, namely – NEHUTA, NEHUNSA, and NEHUSU – have formed a Joint Action Committee (JAC) and have up their ante against the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar.

Issuing a statement on Tuesday, Chairman of the JAC Xavier Mao said they will be taking up issues of serious common concerns and issues pertaining to students, employees, and teachers and in overall besides the many anomalies in the university. Accusing the university of violating series of acts, statutes, and Ordinances of the university, Mao stated, “The incumbent Vice-Chancellor, Registrar and others have created an unhealthy atmosphere in the university.” All the three associations have decided to address all the common issues for which the university has deteriorated.

“Compelled by the all-out violation, failure, inefficient and incompetent handling of the affairs of the university by the incumbent VC and the Registrar, the three associations decided to form joint Action Committee, and the JAC shall work out a due course of action in order to restore healthy, democratic and congenial atmosphere in the university and to save the university from further sinking, the statement concluded.
