Shillong: The police are not taking the threats of the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) lightly in spite of being accounted as an almost decimated armed outfit. The HNLC through a release on Friday has warned of targeting certain communities if the police continue to torment its sympathizers and workers.
A well placed police source involved in monitoring the HNLC told The Sentinel on Saturday that they are not treating the threat in a hollow way. ‘We knew about their strength which is around 15-20 and are all based in the Khasi villages in Bangladesh”, the source said, adding, “inputs suggested that they could have only one or two sophisticated weapons, but yes they are dangerous equipment that can create havoc.”
