Search By Navy Divers Continues Inside The Rat-Hole Mining in Ksan, East Jaintia Hills

SHILLONG: The days of expected survival of the fifteen miners trapped inside the rat-hole mining in Ksan, East Jaintia Hills district pass by, and Navy diver plunged again into the deep waters of the pits with no results on Thursday.

The Indian Navy reported that they have searched 6 mines, including the main shaft and at present they reported that search was completed in the old shaft that is to be taken up by the Coal India limited and also search in the old shaft nearby is in progress, besides informing the supervising officials that water level on the entire area was totally ruptured, stated a source.

On 10 January 2019, Kirloskar again run their pumps from 12 noon till 5 pm and able to pump out 450,000 litres of water from the main shaft. CIL started pumping again from 1 pm to 5 pm and the total water pumped out is 453600, while the fire service of Odisha starts pumping from 12 noon till 5 pm with a total of 450,000litres. The NDRF usually coordinate and assist all the agencies in this rescue operation work with all their resources available. The pumping and dewatering the shafts is going on.

The total water pumped out is 28,80,000 litres and it was stopped for half-an-hour for refuelling. Going by the ground inputs the multiple agencies are working to ensure the rescuing strategies going with the improvised strategies, even though they maintained that the miners' survival is beyond reality.
