Shillong: The Meghalaya Department of Education has vowed to come down hard on those responsible for the leakage of Meghalaya Teachers’ Eligibility Test question papers. A Special Investing Team (SIT) has been instituted to investigate the matter and is being headed by Meban Synrem, commissioner/secretary, Education Department.

Speaking to a group of reporters on Friday, Principal Secretary, Education Department, Donald P Wahlang stated “The SIT will try to find out how can leakage happen when the magistrate had opened the question papers in front of the candidates at the examination hall and all the papers were sealed at that point of time.

The SIT hopefully will bring out the truth.” With insinuations that the question papers leaked out from a certain segment before being shared through mobile phones, Wahlang said, “All these questions will be answered through the inquiry. The inquiry is supposed to be completed in 12 days time. Wahlang further stated that the department has kept in abeyance the process of correcting papers while the matter of declaring the results or not will depend on the outcome of the inquiry.
