Vehicles using modified exhaust pipes detected

Shillong, June 20: The Shillong Traffic Police has detected around 24 cases where of owners of vehicles are using modified exhaust pipes.

These cases were detected on June 18 and the modified exhaust pipes were used mostly by youngsters, police said.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic), has said that checking will not be only for two wheelers but for all types of vehicles and even as the police urged all vehicle users to removes such modified exhaust pipes.

It may be mentioned that earlier this year the police had issued an advisory that such violators will be booked under Section 102 of the Meghalaya Police Act and fine of Rs 5000 will be realised from such offenders.

“Inspite of giving an advisory, it has been found put that many vehicle owners are still using their modified exhaust pipes thereby compelling the Shillong Traffic Police to conduct checking,” East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Davis Nestell R Marak said.
