LONGLENG: A meeting of the Longleng District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) was held recently under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj at the DPDB Hall.

Addressing the DPDB members, the DC asserted that DPDB is an important platform where the development activities of the district are discussed to take appropriate decisions for the welfare of the people. Dharam Raj pointed out that a positive attitude and active participation of the members and Heads of Offices (HoOs) are required for a positive outcome. He further said that DPDB is also an important platform for every HoO and member to coordinate and learn each other's activities through PowerPoint presentations at every meeting.

During presentation of the agendas for registration of the societies, the DC informed the members to scrutinize the motives of the society before the application is submitted to the DPDB for forwarding to the government, informed the DIPR, Nagaland. The members had a healthy debate on safe drinking water and Plastic Waste Management Unit (PWMU) after the PowerPoint presentation by the PHED department.

The members emphasized underground water quality testing from different zones of the district and issuing of public advisory awareness, along with identifying safe drinking water availability in the district.

The board also stressed on plastic waste management unit for the safe disposal of plastic waste without hazards to lives and the environment. The board urged the PHED department to identify agencies for the disposal of plastic waste for recycling.
