Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio tested for COVID-19, result 'negative'

Guwahati: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who has been in self-quarantine since a recent trip to national capital New Delhi, on Saturday confirmed that he has tested negative for the COVID-19 virus.

"I have tested negative for COVID-19. However, I will continue to be vigilant, take all necessary precautions and complete the quarantine period", Rio wrote in a tweet.

After his return from national capital New Delhi on Thursday last, Rio has gone into self-quarantine as a precautionary measure against the spread of the COVID-19. The Chief Minister took to Twitter to give details of his return from New Delhi. "As a precautionary measure, I'm on self-quarantine on my return to Nagaland from Delhi. Taking precautions to ensure the safety of others and myself. Will continue discharging duties. Please follow official advisories/guidelines, wear mask, maintain social distancing & observe hygiene", Rio shared in a tweet.

It may be mentioned here that on Wednesday, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in the national capital New Delhi. In the pics that were shared on social media, both the leaders were seen wearing masks and following social distancing norms.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 cases in Nagaland rose further on Saturday with the detection of 22 more positive cases of the COVID-19 in quarantine centres. Out of these new detections, 11 cases have been detected in Peren, 8 in Dimapur, and 3 in Kohima.
