Anemia screening camp

NIULAND: An anemia screening camp for adolescent girls and women was held at Viyito village recently. The programme organized as part of the Rashtriya Poshan Maah, under the Nuiland Project. Medical Officer Niuland, Dr. Merang Ao as the resource person spoke on the theme 'Prevention of Anaemia in Adolescent Girls and Women in the Reproductive Age Group'. Out of 33 women tested, two were found to be anaemic. The programme was organised by the Department of Social Welfare in convergence with the Health and Family Welfare and School Education, stated a release.

Cooking demonstration

MON: The Mon block convergence action plan committee on 'Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan' conducted a cooking demonstration on nutrition at Totok Chinglen and Totok Chingnyu A, B, C & D villages recently. Supervisor, Social Welfare Department Mon, L. Amei Konyak, Block Coordinator under Mon Project, Yingphe Konyak and Anganwati workers as demonstrators shared the importance of nutrition especially for the adolescent girls, children and the lactating mothers. They said that most of the nutrition needs are met by breast milk in the first six months but after that the child must be fed a variety of food items for their growth, learning and to boost their natural immunity against infections, stated a release.

Poshan Maah

GHATHASHI: Along with the rest of nation, the 'Poshan Maah' programme was organised under CDPO Ghathashi at GHS Ghathashi in coordination with Medical Department and Education Department under the theme 'Right Age of Marriage' recently. A speech on health, hygiene and nutrition was delivered by MO Ghathashi, Khriekuolie and the speech on the theme was delivered by Pharmacist, Alovito. The programme was chaired by CDPO Ghathashi, Chiro while the keynote address was delivered by Supervisor Ghathashi, Mughatovi. Some items were distributed among the adolescent girls present on the occasion, stated a release.

Drivers' training

DIMAPUR: A daylong training on 'Protocol, manners and maintenance of vehicle for drivers under DC Dimapur was conducted at the DC's conference hall here recently. The training started with DC Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol briefing the gathering on the purpose of conducting the training. Deputy SP (Mechanical) Er. Thejaseno Zhasa, NPS, speaking on the topic 'Basic Duties of Drivers in Vehicle Maintenance, Manners and Etiquette', highlighted the importance of discipline, necessary skills, safety, sympathy for cars, right attitude, respect for fellow drivers, traffic rules, avoiding mobile phones while driving and confidentiality at professional level. SI, PTS, Rhinilo Rengma, spoke on the topic 'Traffic Laws and Rules', stated a release.
