Chumoukedima meet

CHUMOUKEDIMA: A panchayat meeting of Chumoukedima Block, Dimapur, Nagaland on Poshan Abhiyan was held at Chumoukedima Town Council hall, Nagaland recently. EAC and Administrator, Chumoukedima Town Council, Thejavizo Nakhro, in his keynote address, stated that the first and the foremost requirement of any nation or society or a community is health. Addressing the leaders from all the 59 villages under Chumoukedima, Nakhro reminded them of the powers and functions of village Councils.

He also administered the Poshan Pledge during the programme. Highlights of the programme included PowerPoint presentations by the representatives of the convergent departments: Poshan Abhiyan & 1000 days of child by Supervisor, Social Welfare, Hekali Sema; ANC, PNC and health related issues by MO, Health & FW, Dr. A. Narola Toska; different schemes under Horticulture by DHO, Temsu Longkumer; Mid-day Meal by JEO, School Education, Kitoshi Zhimomi; Adhaar seeding by Inspector Food and CS, Portia T Aienla; different projects under Land Resources Department by Field Officer, Loan schemes by SO Rural Development, Yapangla; and Water Supply and Sanitation by SDO PHED, Er Earl Thomson Ao. The programme was chaired by CDPO Dimapur (Rural), Bonathung Ngullie, stated a release.

Farmers' orientation

TSEMINYU: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Kohima district, conducted a block-level farmers' orientation-cum-capacity building programme at the Tseminyu Town Hall recently. Altogether 54 farmers from Tseminyu, Phenda, Ngyuphen, Tesophenyu and Ziphenyu villages of Tseminyu sub-division participated in the programme. VAS Tseminyu, Dr. Gwathonglo Tsela spoke on the importance of housing for livestock and poultry with special emphasis on proper selection of the farms. He demonstrated the method and procedures of artificial insemination (AI) and heat detection of dairy animals with AI equipment. Chief Vet. AI Officer Kohima, Dr. Joseph M. Angami explained the importance of self-employment in the Livestock sector for the uplift of rural economy, stated a release. The programme was chaired by Ghetsamo Jemu, SVFA, where Pastor Tseminyu Village Baptist Church, Sonilo Tep offered the invocation prayer for the programme.

Girl Child Day in Mon

MON: If a girl child is educated, she can play a major role in the society. This was stated by Ngepshom Konyak, Women Welfare Officer, Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) Mon while addressing the gathering at the meeting held to celebrate the 'Girl Child Day' at the Police Unit School, Nagaland recently. She emphasized on equal treatment for both boys and girls and the importance of avoiding gender bias. Ngepshom encouraged the students to use their rights in their family and school as development begins from these two places. She further encouraged the girl students not to be shy and timid but rather to be more active and participate in a wide range of activities, stated a release.

The meeting was organized by the Mon District Administration in collaboration with Mahila MSK - District Level Centre for Women (DLCW). The programme was celebrated under the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign. The programme was chaired by Neijoi Konyak, District Coordinator, MSK. A total of 50 students participated in the celebrations. T. Matsung Ao, Administrator of Police Unit School gave an introduction on behalf of the school. He briefly highlighted the importance of 'Girl Child Day' to the students. The vote of thanks was delivered by Olem Konyak, District Coordinator, MSK Mon.

Noklak development board meeting held

NOKLAK: The meeting of Noklak Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) was held at the KTC hall here recently. The newly posted officers are M. Chaitanya Prasad IAS, ADC; Mugulhu, OC Police Station; Neikhoto Tachu BM SBI; Dr. Jongkei L. Khiamniungan, GDMO CHC and Menokhrielie, CDPO. Reviewing the last meeting minutes, the Chairman gave an update on the follow-up actions that have been taken up. The new agenda discussed during the meeting were proposal for additional fund under LADP 2019-20 as submitted by the advisor. Proposals for the upgradation of JE Power to SDO Electrical post at Noklak HQ and provision of a separate feeder line for Noklak and Thonoknyu sub-division were unanimously approved to be forwarded to the authority concerned for early necessary action.

Presently, frequent disruption of power supply is causing immense hindrances for various activities. Proposals for consideration of the Thonoknyu Block as an Aspiration Block, which was submitted by advisor L. Khumo, has been approved for the consideration of the Government based on the economic and developmental ground realities. Establishment of an AYUSH Hospital at Thonoknyu as proposed by Khumo was approved for consideration by the authority concerned on account of the lack of healthcare facilities in the Sub-Division, stated a release. Grant-in-Aid to Baptist School Thonoknyu as forwarded by the Sub-Divisional Education Officer, Noklak was approved for forwarding to the authority concerned. Staff Quarter facility at AYUSH Hospital Noklak, Nagaland as brought up by the member present was discussed at length and approved for construction of two staff quarters on an urgent need basis. Khumo thanked the members for their attendance and encouraged the members to be proactive in raising the concern of the area in the line with their respective department for the welfare of the people. The Department of Food and Civil Supplies highlighted on the various activities being implemented under Noklak. The Noklak branch of State Bank of India will present their activities in the next meeting. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by the Chairman.

Camp on women's health at Molvom village organized

MEDZIPHEMA: As part of the ongoing 'Poshan Maah' celebration, an anemia awareness and screening camp and PMMVY (Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana) registration camp for adolescent girls and pregnant and lactating women was held at the community hall in Molvom Village, Nagaland recently.

The camps were organized in convergence with the Health and Family Welfare and School Education. Around 80 pregnant and lactating women attended the camp. Of them, there were 18 first-time mothers were registered on the spot for Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), stated a release. Dr. Michelle spoke on prevention and treatment of anemia and maintenance of health and sanitation. A total of 90 adolescent girls from Government High School and Primary School attended where free anemia screening was done and IFA, Calcium tablets and sanitary pads were distributed to the adolescent girls. The keynote address was delivered by CDPO Medziphema, Tsungrosongla while the vote of thanks was pronounced by Poshan Coordinator, Lichenbeni.
