Kezo Basa gets adoption committee award

KOHIMA: The Village Adoption Committee (VAC) 2018-19 Exit Programme-cum-District Planning & Development Board meeting was held at the DPDB's Conference Hall, Kohima recently. Advisor for Rural Development Dr Neikiesalie Nicky Kire and MLA Keneizhakho also attended the programme. Kezo Basa Village Adoption Committee under 15th Southern Angami –II Assembly constituency was adjudged the best performing Adoption Committee 2018-19 followed by Lower PR Hill Adoption Committee under 9th Kohima Town Assembly constituency as the second best performing committee. Special award to Midland Colony Adoption Committee under 8th Western Angami Assembly constituency was also announced during the programme. The two winning committees were awarded a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively and a cash prize of Rs 10,000 as a special award, which was given away to the winning committees by DC and Vice Chairman DPDB, Kohima, stated a DIPR release.

Nagaland Police website

KOHIMA, June 17: Nagaland DGP TJ Longkumer flagged launched the new Nagaland Police website at Rhododendron Hall, Police Complex, Chumukedima. Addressing the gathering the DGP said that today's world is a digital one, so the Police Department also needs to redefine itself in this changing scenario. He informed that Nagaland Police has started to upgrade its digital footprint to stop the raising trend of cyber crime. He also said that the website is very interactive and requested all the citizens to take the opportunity to seek help or register any complaints freely. A training programme on cyber security was also held with Director, Blak Tronics Investigation Labs, Ishaan Sinha as resource person, stated a DIPR release.

Peren meeting

KOHIMA, June 17: The District Convergence Action Plan Committee meeting chaired by Sarita Yadav, Chairman District Convergence Action Plan Committee and Deputy Commissioner Peren was held in the DC's Conference Hall, Peren recently. The meeting deliberated on the conduct of information, education, communication (IEC) and advocacy in all the block levels under Peren so as to reach out to the rural areas. IEC and advocacy is a time frame programme in all the districts, blocks and villages for three months commencing from June to August 2019, stated a DIPR release.

Zunheboto job fair

KOHIMA, June 17: Zunheboto Deputy Commissioner Shanavas C in a circular has reminded all stakeholders that the 'Job Fair' will be conducted by the Emporium Skill Training Institute at the Town Hall in Zunheboto on June 18 from at 11.30 am, stated a DIPR release.

Governor releases book

KOHIMA, June 17: Adding a feather to the cap of Assam's evolutionary history, a book titled Economic History of the Miris (Mishings) was released on Sunday by the Nagaland Governor PB Acharya in the GU-IST Hall of Gauhati University. Authored by Peter Pegu, the book is the result of an in-depth study of the various stages of economic life of the Mishing tribe over the last 3,000 years. Addressing the gathering during the release, Governor Acharya stressed upon the need of social connectivity in any intellectual work. He appealed to the authors and researchers to make meaningful contributions to national character building through their intellectual works , stated a DIPR release.
