KOHIMA: A daylong district wise capacity workshop for heads of primary and middle schools on 'Shaala Siddhi' was conducted at VDB hall Zunheboto by the Nagaland Education Mission Society, Samagra Shiksha rcently. Resource person for Zunheboto district was Timothy Thong, Deputy Mission Director-Samagra Shiksha. The programme started with introduction of 'Shaala Siddhi' where the resource person explained that the national programme on school standards and evaluation or otherwise known as Shaala Siddhi is a comprehensive instrument for school evaluation leading to school improvement. Shaala Siddhi also aims to enable schools to evaluate their performance in a more focused and strategic manner and facilitate them to make professional judgments for improvement, stated a DIPR release.

Zunheboto DPDB meet

KOHIMA: The Zunheboto District Planning and Development Board held its monthly meeting at Deputy Commissioner's conference hall on Monday. Deputy Commissioner Shanavas C presided over the meeting. After the review of the last meetings minutes, the board discussed shortage of water in Amiphoto Colony in Zunheboto town and to include a staff from district planning department in the LADF committee for transparency and accountability. A power point presentation was given by NRLM (Nagaland Rural Livelihood Mission) and Sericulture Department. The next DPDB meeting will be held on July 10, stated a DIPR release.

Meditation event

KOHIMA: Brahma Kumari's Kohima Centre organized a life enrichment programme – 'Rajyoga Meditation' under the theme "Live Your Life and Forget about the Age" at DC Conference Hall, Kohima on Monday. Speaking at the programme, Dr Mahesh N Hemadri, MBBS (Geriatrician) GV Mody Rural Health Care Centre said that the main objective of the institution was to spread happiness and to empower senior citizens to live a happy and healthy life through meditation and physical exercise, stated a DIPR release.

Teen pregnancy seminar

KOHIMA: The district administration in collaboration with key stakeholders and line departments under 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' organized a one-day seminar-cum-awareness on teen pregnancy on at the DC's conference hall, Wokha, with Dr Noune Terhase (gynaecologist) as the resource person recently. Adolescent Girls Club and girl students from different schools attended the programme. Addressing the participants Dr Noune said to prevent such cases awareness and sensitization is required to be spread among adolescents girls as it has many adverse impact on the life of a women, stated a DIPR release.

Skill mela at Kiphire

KOHIMA: A 'Skill Mela' was held at Kiphire local ground with an aims at providing training and job opportunities to unemployed youths and school dropouts. Gracing the event Kiphire DC M Shayung Phom said that the objective for organizing this event was to give the youths a strong platform to hone their skills, to bring them out their comfort zone and to overcome feeling of insecurity and self-doubt. He urged upon the youth to grab the opportunity so that the district become self-reliant and self-sustaining, stated a DIPR release.
