Assam Girl commits suicide at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences

Gangtok: A female student studying at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Studies allegedly committed suicide inside her Hostel room (No 716) at Tadong 5th Mile. The deceased statement has been identified as Barnali Pathak who hails from Assam. Barnali was studying MBBS and was in the 3rd year. She was 23.

SMIMS Dean GS Joneja in a press release said that Barnali Pathak, a student of 3rd-year MBBS at SMIMS died under tragic circumstances on September 5. He also said that the police were informed immediately about the tragic incident and the investigations are on. Barnali's parents have reached the campus and the college authority is extending full co-operation to the police

"On behalf of the entire SMIMS and Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) family, I want to extend my deepest condolences to Miss Barnali Pathak’s family, friends, and mentors and join them as we mourn her loss. We also extend our thoughts and prayers to the bereaved family at this time of grief," said Joneja.
