Sikkim receives more than Rs. 1lakh crore by Central Government

Guwahati: The state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President of Sikkim D. B. Chauhan claimed that the Narendra Modi led government in the Centre has allocated more than Rs. 1lakh crore for the development of Sikkim during the five years of ruling BJP led NDA government.

Chauhan while informing about the fund said that the amount has been collected by the State BJP directly from different ministries and also from official websites of other ministries. Such colossal amount of funds was allocated to Sikkim during the five years of the Modi government for the development of the state and its people.

He further informed that various projects and schemes have been launched during Modi's regime which focuses on overall development of Sikkim. The projects include construction of highways, repair of roads and bridges, building infrastructures, drinking water supply, food security, health, education, poverty elevation, hydro-power projects, rural electrification and many more. "Every sector has been revived and people are empowered through digital technology," Chauhan said.

The Ministry of Environment has been allocated a sum of Rs. 965.30 crore meant for preserving of sacred lakes and wetland complexes like Rani Chu, Khecheopalri Lake, Tsomgo Lake and Guru Dongmar Lake.

The power ministry has given an amount of Rs. 16,756.89 crore for repairing of transmission lines, rural electrification and construction of dams in the state. Funds have also been allocated by the Ministries of Health (Rs. 640.44 crore), Rural & Urban Development (Rs. 31090.10 crore), Railways (Rs. 4013 crore), NHIDCL projects (Rs. 41,453 crores). A lumpsum amount of Rs. 1345.90 crore has been allotted for poverty alleviation, water supply and RUSA schemes.

Chauhan further said that the state is yet to receive details for welfare, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Digital India schemes implemented in Sikkim.

The objective of sharing the figures is to present the five-year report card of the state of Sikkim to the Modi government and to tell the people of the state the importance of it.

Chauhan said, "During Congress's regime we have 'Look East Policy' and now in Modi's regime we have 'Act East Policy' and that the government has taken care of the development sector for the state of Sikkim."

Talking about the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) initiative of the NDA government, he said that the people have been benefitted to a great extent since they now get their share directly in their bank accounts. He further stated that all the schemes have not been implemented in the state and if the schemes would have been implemented the state would have much developed. There are 130 schemes of central government and with the implementation of all the schemes there will be no poverty and unemployment in Sikkim.
