Sikkim wants to explore ways of boosting tourism with Bodoland Territorial Council

The Government of Sikkim has expressed its keenness on boosting the tourism industry by collaborating with its Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) counterpart and working on an organic revolution.

KOKRAJHAR: The Government of Sikkim has expressed its keenness on boosting the tourism industry by collaborating with its Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) counterpart and working on an organic revolution.

Talking to mediapersons of Kokrajhar - who are on a three-day exposure tour to Sikkim - at the conference hall of the May Fair Resort in Gangtok, the State's Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Printing & Stationary and Information & Public Relations, Bedu Singh Panth said that the Government of Sikkim is keen to explore the way of boosting tourism and organic revolution in the BTC. He said that tourism is the prime source of livelihood of Sikkim where tourists from the country and abroad come to enjoy the best of the State. He said that he has come to know that the BTC had two national parks and two wildlife sanctuaries, besides some beautiful tourist destinations which the council needs to explore for utilizing its potential. He said that they will be able to enhance the potential of the tourism industry in BTC by networking communications, sharing tourism information and providing logistic support. He also said that the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Tamang alias P Golay, has a close relationship with the BTR's Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro and he is keen to extend logistic support to BTC.

Panth said that Sikkim became an organic State through organic mission and today their agricultural products are purely organic. He said that Bodoland has a huge area of fertile agricultural land to produce varied agricultural products. He said that Sikkim could explore the market potential with BTC for agricultural products, besides supporting the organic mission in the council. He also that said they wanted to boost the connection of culture, ethnicity and economy with BTC in near future as there are a lot of similarities and assimilation of beautiful culture and linguistic stock.

The get-together programme with mediapersons of Kokrajhar was also attended by the Director of I&PR, Sikkim, Benu Gurung and Assistant Director Raj Sharma.
