Laxmi Puja: Prayers in Tripura for Modi Government's Good Sense in Releasing Funds

People in Tripura offered prayer to Goddess Laxmi on the Eve Laxmi Puja, today for prevailing of good sense of the Central Government in releasing funds for the development of the State.

The Verma Committee in its Report alleged the Narendra Modi led BJP Government of giving false assurance to the people of Tripura under its much hyped “Act East Policy”. The report has clearly mentioned how the state of Tripura was looked down upon by the Central Government and created a crisis situation in the state. The report also held the Modi Government responsible for the non-implementation of the 7th pay Commission in the State.

The report further mentioned that the crisis situation in the state has gone on a peak after the BJP came to power in the state, as the state government has completely remained silent on the fund crisis in the state, resulting in price hike and almost no Government provided man-days to the BPL families. The report claims that the poor people are the worst sufferers who are yet to be benefitted from the tall promises of the Modi Government which included social pension of Rs 2000, hike minimum wages to Rs 350 among others. It also blamed the Central Government for the deplorable road conditions of the state.

The Report has further exposed many reasons behind the State Governments’ inability to implement 7th Pay Commission in the state, as a result of which the Government employees are yet to receive any good news from the Government and all promises of the Central Government during the 2018 election Campaign has remained mere promises.

The people of Tripura had hoped that the Modi Government at the center will stand true to its promise after the people of Tripura had voted BJP to power in 2018 and that the Central Government will provide all assistance in creating employment in the state thereby boosting the state’s economy but, the Verma Committee Report claims, none of these promises were fulfilled and like the previous years this year too the people of Tripura remains “Penniless” this Laxmi Puja.

It may be mentioned that BJP has got all out while campaigning for the 2018 Assembly Election in the state promising all-round development for the people of the state, which saw the people dethroning the 20 years long Manik Sarkar led CPI(M) Government and paving the way for the Biplob Deb led BJP government in the state.
