Agartala: Huge quantity of ganja was seized during the last few months by police reportedly smuggled from the Malkhana of the Sonamura Police station where these seized goods were stored. Police sources said the market price of the smuggled ganja will be around Rs 10 lakh.
How the incident was detected is not yet clear, but the police on its own registered a case against one cleaner of the Police Station on suspicion that he might have smuggled the goods.
Kulwant Singh, Superintendent of Police, Sipahijala district talking to reporters admitted the fact and said the matter is being investigated. Allegation of smuggling of seized narcotics items from the Malkhana of Sonamura police station is nothing new and earlier several police personnel including an officer-in-charge of the police station were suspended over similar allegation and investigation is still going on.
