KOHIMA: To commemorate the golden jubilee of Indian Armed Forces' victory in 1971 Indo- Pak War, the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from National War Memorial in New Delhi.

Brig Nilesh Chowdhary, Station Commander, Military Station Agartala received the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal with full military honours on November 5, 2021. Wreath laying to honour the War Heroes was done by Satyadeo Narain Arya, Governor ofTripura on November 6, 2021 at Albert Ekka War Memorial, along with other military and civil dignitaries, including eminent athlete Dipa Karmakar and Vincent Ekka, son of Lance Naik Albert Ekka, PVC (Posthumous). The Swarnim Vijay Mashaal was brought to Rabindra Bhavan following a 'Vijay Prarikrama' around prominent places in the city. The event at Rabindra Bhavan featured various cultural events, combined forces band display, 1971 War Gallery and military equipment display. The Veer Naris and Veterans of 1971 war were felicitated by the chief guest, Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb.

During its stay in Agartala, the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal will also be duly honored by Assam Rifles, BSF, CRPF and Police Headquarters on November 7 and November 8. On November 9, the Victory Flame will bid adieu to Agartala and move to Masimpur, Assam, stated a press release.
