Tripura Cabinet Reshuffle on the Cards

Tripura Cabinet Reshuffle on the Cards

A Correspondent

Agartala: Speculation over a reshuffle in the Tripura State Cabinet is gaining ground as the poll process of the panchayat has come to an end with the counting of votes on Wednesday. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in June had said he will consider a reshuffle in his ministry after the panchayat election is over. Sources in the BJP have confirmed that at the party level also, the matter is being discussed and a final decision will be taken only after getting approval from the Central leadership.

The nine-member first BJP government was sworn in on March 2018 keeping three vacancies. Out of them, one minister, Sudip Roy Barman, was dropped from the ministry bringing the number of total ministers to eight.

The political circle is now agog with the possible new inductions in the Cabinet and the name coming into surface includes Ratan Chakraborty, Ram Prasar Pal, Sushanta Choudhury, etc. There is every possibility of change in Speaker as Rebati Das is not feeling comfortable in his current position. Sources said that the party is not considering a ministerial position for him and instead is searching some other official position which will be befitting to him.
