Tribal body accuses government of step-motherly attitude

Agartala: Radha Charan Debbarma, Chief Executive Member of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) has accused the State Government for creating an ‘economic blockade’ in the tribal areas and depriving the people from their due claims.

He alleged that the BJP- led government is depriving the CPI(M) controlled TTAADC due to political reasons which is totally against the democratic spirit of the country.

Debbarma said the budget allocation for this year has been increased by 19 per cent compared to last year but the allocation for the TTAADC has been increased only 1.5 per cent. ‘It is a clear instance of creating an economic blockade and depriving the hilly areas from development.

Inaugurating several projects being implemented by the TTAADC in Kanchanpur sub-division, he said the council have many developmental projects in hand but could not be implemented due to the ‘step- motherly attitude’ of the State Government.

The projects the CEO inaugurated in Ananda Bazar area in the last three days include two market sheds and one office building of the Assistant Inspector of School. He also laid the foundation stone of the office building for the Inspectorate of Schools in Kanchanpur.

Executive members Rajendra Reang and Paresh Sarkar, member Lalit Debnath and other officials were present during the occasion.
