CJM Court Kamrup Metro sent Former JNU student Sharjeel Imam to 4 day police custody

Former JNU student Sharjeel Imam, who was arrested in January for "cut-off Northeast" remark, was sent to 4 day police custody by the CJM Court, Kamrup Metro in a Guwahati on Monday.

The JNU Ph.D student will be interrogated by the crime branch of Assam Police.

It is to be noted that the Tihar Jail authority, brought Sharjeel Imam to the Guwahati city on Thursday evening. Imam reached the Guwahati Railway Station amidst tight security.

Soon after reaching the railway station, Imam was taken to the Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital at Pan Bazar for medical checkup.

He was later produced before the CJM Court Kamrup Metro.

A case {1/2020 u/s 121(A)/ 124(A)/ 153(A)/ 153(B) of IPC, 13(i)/ 15(a)(iii)/ 18 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act} was registered at the Crime Branch Police Station here against Imam's appeal to anti-CAA protestors to 'cut-off Assam from India'.
