Department of Handloom & Textiles launched drive against imported machine-made gamosas in Nagaon

The Department of Handloom & Textiles, (Government of Assam) on Tuesday launched a drive against imported machine-made gamosas in Nagaon town and seized huge numbers of gamochas from shops and business establishments.

As per reports, huge consignments of gamochas and mekhela chadors are being produced on power looms come to the Nagaon's Dhakaipatty, Borobazaar and Haibargaon markets.

It is to be noted that selling power loom (machine) made gamochas is illegal in the state of Assam according to the Handloom Reservation Act 2010.
