Al Qaeda again

Al Qaeda again

Al Qaeda has raised its ugly head against India once again. A little over twelve months after after its chief Ayman al-Zawahiri asked militants in Kashmir to step up terror attacks against India, the global terror outfit has made an appeal to Indian Muslims to join the Islamist jihad. The call has come from Yemen's Al Qaeda in Arab Peninsula (AQAP), the globally banned terrorist group, which on Monday leveled charges against India of being part of a global war on Muslims. The Al Qaeda statement was incidentally preceded by similar allegations levelled by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Kuwait government and several Arab activists calling India an Islamophobic country. These anti-India progapanda by a section of Arab countries have been seen as a result of continuous Pakistani propaganda against India over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and Kashmir and also recently because of the widespread criticism of he notorious Tablighi Jamaat organisation for being pinpointed as having a big role in the spread of the novel coronavirus infection in India. Al Qaeda, which had carried out the horrible September 11 terror attacks in the United States, has also alleged that the BJP-led government has taken several steps which are directed against the Muslims living in the country. The outfit has also appealed to the Indian Muslims to "unite ranks, gather arms and wage jihad." It may be recalled that Al Qaeda's former chief Osama bin Laden was killed in his hideout at Abbottabad in Pakistan, by the US in a covert operation a few years ago. It is open secret that Al Qaeda has been of late primarily very active in Yemen and Saudi Arabia. The outfit's chief Al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri, who is one of the world most dreaded and most wanted terrorist, had only last year directed jihadists in Kashmir to step up terror attacks against India. Ayman al-Zawahiri, who is a doctor from Egypt, had said at the time that the Mujahideen in Kashmir "should single-mindedly focus on inflicting unrelenting blows on the Indian Army and government, so as to bleed the Indian economy and make India suffer sustained losses in manpower and equipment." It was only two days ago that terrorists had killed five security personnel in Kashmir.
