GUWAHATI: As a part of cricket promotion plan in the State, Assam Cricket Association (ACA) will develop cricket infrastructure at Majuli and will also give the river island the status of its affiliated unit.

A team from the Assam Cricket Association led by its President Romen Dutta and Secretary Devajit Saikia, visited Majuli yesterday. The key reason behind the visit of ACA officials at Majuli was to check the exact scenario of the game and chalk out the plans for its development.

During this visit the officials met with the representative of various clubs, sports lovers, political and non political organizations along with the local players at Kamalabari. It was formally decided in the meeting to form Majuli District Cricket Association and steps will be taken to give affiliation to it. This effort of ACA will provide a proper platform to the budding players of Majuli along with other individuals who are associated with the game.

It may be mentioned here that although Majuli was declared as a district four years ago but they yet to participate in various BCCI and ACA organised cricket tournaments.
