Dubai: Pakistan on Monday began their campaign on a winning note as they thrashed defending champions by 7 wickets in a warm-up match of the T20 World Cup played at ICC Cricket Academy Ground in Dubai.

Pakistan dominated the warm-up match and they successfully chased down a target of 131-run in just 15.3 overs to beat West Indies.

While chasing 131, Pakistan got off to a solid start with Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, but in the final over of the powerplay, Ravi Rampaul got a success as he dismissed wicketkeeper-batsman for 13.

Meanwhile, Captain Babar remained strong, Fakhar Zaman, who came in at No. 3 hit 2 sixes and 4 boundaries scoring 46 off 24-ball and remained unbeaten which helped Pakistan to chase down the target in just 15.3 overs.

Earlier, after winning the toss, the Caribbean opted to bat but they struggle to score as in the very first over, Hasan Ali of Pakistan dismissed Andre Fletcher for just 2 runs.

Later, Chris Gayle joined Lendl Simmons at No. 3 but found it difficult to get run for his team as Pakistan's Imad Wasim, Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi operating in tandem forcing West Indies to score only 30 at the end of the power play. In last delivery of the powerplay, Shaheen sent Simmons to the pavilion.

Roston Chase, came after Simmons at No.4 failed to put pressure on the Pakistan as to Imad Wasim showed him way to the pavilion.

However, Gayle spent some time on the crease but he couldn't score big. Later, Gayle was dismissed by Haris Rauf on socre of 30 runs off 20 balls.

Eventually, Kieron Pollard's quickfire knock helped West Indies post a decent total on the board. In the match, before going back to the pavilion, Pollard hit 5 boundaries on the trot in Haris Rauf's finall over.

In their next warm-up match, Pakistan will face South Africa before facing arch-rivals India in the tournament opener on October 24 in Dubai.
