Double crown for Chandra Sekhar Mohanty in ITF Seniors Tennis Championship

GUWAHATI: Chandra Sekhar Mohanty clinched double crown in the ITF Seniors Tennis Championship which concluded at the All Assam Tennis Association Complex, Chachal in the city today.

In the +35 age group singles final, Chandra Sekhar defeated Indrakumar Khangebam Singh in three grueling sets 1-6, 6-1, 6-4. In the doubles, Chandra Sekhar partnering with Dilip Mohanty beat Rajesh Baruah and Shiv Kumar Prajapati 6-4, 3-6, 10-6.

In the prize distribution ceremony, trophies and prize money were distributed by Chief Guest Hemanta Kumar Sarma, Company Secretary and Chief General Manager of Numaligarh Refinery Limited and Guest of Honor Dr. C. Muthu Kumaravel, Chief Conservator of Forest, Assam. It may be mentioned that the tournament carried a prize money of Rs. 3,04,000.

MEN'S DOUBLES +35 FINAL: Chandra Sekhar Mohanty (IND) / Dilip Mohanty (IND) def Rajesh Baruah (IND) / Shiv Kumar Prajapati (IND). 6-4, 3-6, 10-6. MEN'S DOUBLES +45 FINAL: Jitendra Pradhan (IND) / Tuleswar Singh Thongbam (IND) def Yogesh Kohli (IND) / Sanjai Kumar (IND). 6-1, 4-4. (Conceded). MEN'S DOUBLES +55 FINAL: Randeep Baruah (IND) / Hakim Ali (IND) def Ajeet Bharadwaj (IND) / Naresh Vij (IND) 6-0, 6-4.
