3.32 per cent rise in number of voters

Guwahati, January 20: The number of voters in Assam has gone up to 1.94 crore, an increase of 6.45 lakh, according to the fil electoral roll released by the State election department today.         

This represented a growth of about 3.32 per cent over the draft electoral roll.

The total number of electors in the fil roll stands at 1,94,60,273.

Male voters in the fil roll increased to 1,00,61,312 and female voters to 93,98,961 from a total number of male and female voters in draft roll at 97,38,679 and 90,75,739 respectively.

Minority–domited districts recorded the highest increase in the number of voters. The highest increase was recorded in Barpeta district (5.68 per cent) followed by Baksa (5.39 per cent) and Darrang (5.13 per cent).

The lowest was registered at Tinsukia (0.31 per cent).

The increase in other districts are – Karimganj 3 per cent, Hailakandi 2.14 per cent, Cachar 3.18, Dima Hasao 1.77 per cent, Karbi Anglong 3.19 per cent, Dhubri 4.22 per cent, Kokrajhar 3.06 per cent, Chirang 3.18 per cent, Bongaigaon 4.35 per cent, Kamrup 4.02 per cent, Kamrup (metro) 2.99 per cent, lbari 3.87 per cent, Udalguri 4.72 per cent, Goalpara 4.94 per cent, Sonitpur 4.34 per cent, Morigaon 3.63 per cent, gaon 3.05 per cent, Golaghat 3.62 per cent, Jorhat 1.49 per cent, Sivasagar 1.54 per cent, Lakhimpur 2.12 per cent, Dhemaji 4.31 per cent and Dibrugarh 2.13 per cent.
