AASU congratulates Sonowal

GUWAHATI, May 19: The All Assam Students Union (AASU), the apex students organisation of the State, has congratulated BJP chief ministerial candidate Sarbanda Sonowal for the resounding win of the party, and expressed hope that the party would fulfill the promises it made to the people, a release said.

It may be mentioned here that Sarbanda Sonowal was a former president of the influential students' body.

Congratulating Sonowal, AASU President Dipanka Kumar th and General Secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi said that the BJP should now take urgent steps to implement the provisions of the Assam Accord in a time-bound manner and to take steps to ensure protection and constitutiol safeguard to the indigenous people of the State.

The students leaders further appealed to the BJP's chief ministerial candidate to create a conducive atmosphere for the protection and development of students and to take urgent steps to solve the perennial problems affecting the people of the State.
