AJYCP seeks clarification from DMB over issuance of car parking contracts

From our Staff Correspondent

Dibrugarh, June 16: The Dibrugarh District Committee of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) has flayed the BJP-led Dibrugarh Municipality Board (DMB) for their alleged failure to take any initiative in containing the rain-fed flood in various parts of the town.

The arrival of monsoon rains every year unfolds artificial rain-fed flood water in and around Dibrugarh town that brings normal life to a standstill. The daily life of people gets affected as a large part of the town gets inundated with flood water. In spite of this heart rendering situation that cripples the town, the DMB has miserably failed to take effective steps in this regard as they are allegedly preoccupied in allotting car parking contracts to their favourite bidders.   The demand for issuing car parking tenders publicly by some educated unemployed youths and by some organizations has been overlooked  by the DMB chairman Anuradha Dey by making excuses that the matter lies within the prerogative of the local MLA and the MP.

Questioning this move, the District committee of AJYCP wants a clarification from the DMB authority that if MLAs and MPs have entrusted themselves with the task of allotting car parking contracts then how will they solve the other big problems of the district.

The District AJYCP general secretary Homen Borgohain, in a press communiqué, has further  sought a clarification from the Municipal Board regarding the issuance of contracts for car and motorbike parking in the overcrowded Rotary Road, connecting RKB road and  Shantipara.  “A move of DMB for which the traffic police is also facing tough time in traffic magement,” Borgohain added.
