Anti-CAB Stir: Miscreants in guise of peaceful protesters under police scanner

GUWAHATI: The Assam Police feels that of late miscreants have changed their strategy to break and burn public property. According to police, a section of miscreants blended into the crowd of democratic protestors and resorted to breaking and burning of public property in Guwahati during the agitation against the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act). A number of such miscreants have been caught in the police lens, sources said.

Now the police has started arresting such miscreants. Police sources say that they have nothing to say when there is a democratic protest. They, however, added that if anybody is caught taking the law in his/her own hands, he/she will not be spared. “We won’t sit idle if any miscreant takes the advantage of a democratic agitation and deals a blow to the State and its property,” a source in the State police force said.

“We’ve, however, devised a new strategy. Now on, we’ll merge seamlessly with the democratic protestors so as to keep track of miscreants who blend into democratic protestors. We’ll be in our civvies so that we take footage of those who resort to breaking and burning of public property,” the source pointed out.
