CCS cleared Rs 4,440 crore project along IndO-Bangla border

NEW DELHI, Oct 14: Giving a boost to the ongoing fencing work along the India-Bangladesh border, Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has reportedly passed a huge project worth Rs 4,400 crore. Official sources said that the approval was made during the CCS meeting chaired by Prime Minister rendra Modi at 7 RCR last week. The approval will undoubtedly tighten the security along this eastern sector as the Border Security Force (BSF) has intercepted 1,731 Bangladeshi tiols trying to cross over to India. The CCS has cleared around 200 km of fencing along the border. Sanction has also been given to construct a 400-km road in the border areas. India and Bangladesh strategically shares 4,096 kms border. Fencing of the Indo-Bangla border was always on the agenda of the NDA government.
