Guwahati, Dec 14: With assembly elections in Assam due next year, Chief Election Commissioner sim Zaidi will be on a two-day visit to the State beginning December 21 to review the poll preparedness.
CEC sim Zaidi and ECs AK Joti and O P Rawat will be reaching Guwahati on December 21. They will review the poll preparedness, including the law and order situation and the ongoing electoral roll revision.
During its visit, the commission will meet representatives of political parties, all district election officers, SPs, DCs, top civil and police officers of State.
The five-year term of the current State assembly ends in May.
As per law, polls can be held six months prior to the end of the term of the assembly.
The fil electoral rolls in the State are likely to be published on January 20.
