CM in Delhi to chalk up battle plans

NEW DELHI, Oct 27: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday landed in New Delhi to have a crucial meeting of the Congress Coordition Committee in view of the coming Assembly elections in Assam.   

Sources in the All India Congress Committee (AICC) told this correspondent that Gogoi has already prepared a draft action plan to counter the BJP in the coming electoral battle.

“The meeting to be headed by AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi will discuss in details strategies to attack the BJP’s poll campaign,” said a senior Congress leader.

The meeting will also examine the outcome of Himanta Biswa Sarma’s exit from the party. “The exit of ten Congress MLAs from the party is really a shocker for us,” said the leader on condition of strict anonymity, adding that the Congress will definitely overcome the situation.

The meeting will also be attended by APCC president Anjan Dutta and chairman and vice chairman of various committees. Amongst other leaders, Akon Bora and Diganta Chowdhury will also attend the meeting.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi had last month set up eight committees including those on campaign, manifesto, coordition and communication among others.

Former Union minister Paban Singh Ghatowar has been made chairman of the crucial two-member campaign committee while senior leader Bhubaneswar Kalita will chair the manifesto committee.

AICC general secretary CP Joshi chairs the 10-member coordition committee, which has Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and APCC president Anjan Dutta as well as Paban Singh Ghatowar and Hemo Prova Saikia as members.

Pradyot Bordoloi chairs the publicity committee while the five-member discipliry committee is headed by Bishnu Prasad.
