CM requests Pradhan for uninterrupted gas supply to tea gardens

GUWAHATI, Sept 16: In a move to provide succor to small tea growers in Assam, Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal urged Union Minister of State for Petroleum and tural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan for a sustained and uninterrupted gas supply to the gardens in the State.

In a telephonic discussion on Friday, Sonowal also requested the Union Minister to start construction work of superspeciality hospital in Sivasagar as proposed by ONGC very soon. Pradhan assured to look into the matter sympathetically and expeditiously.

In a statement, the Chief Minister said during his two-day Sivasagar district visit which culmited on Friday various individuals and organisations expressed their desire for the continuance of uninterrupted gas supply to tea gardens and setting up of a superspeciality hospital in Sivasagar town as promised by ONGC.

Pradhan assured all cooperation in supplying gas to the tea gardens including starting construction work of the superspeciality hospital soon.

It may be mentioned that Sonowal has been vociferously demanding setting up of a superspeciality hospital in Sivasagar since his stint as the AASU president. Interacting with the citizens of Sivasagar on Thursday, the Chief Minister initiated action very quickly.

Sonowal also reiterated that people should maintain a strict vigil on the activities of the government which ‘is vital for good governce’.
