Dispur constitutes Seventh Pay Commission

Guwahati, June 2: The Assam Government has decided to constitute the 7th Assam Pay & Productivity Pay Commission 2015, with former chief secretary PP Verma as its chairman.

The other members of the commission are former bureaucrat Kameshwar Laskar, economist Dilip Baruah – both members – and Simanta Thakuria, secretary in the Fince department, as Member Secretary.

The commission will also look into areas where skills of employees can be improved through technology incorporation and capacity building.

The commission will look into principles that govern structure of emoluments and service conditions of state government employees excluding All India Services, posts drawing UGC/AICTE pay scales of Degree Colleges/ Engineering Colleges/Medical Colleges/Polytechnics, etc. as well as officers of Judicial Services. It would also examine existing amenities given to State government employees like age superannuation, medical benefits, daily allowance, etc. and such other concerned issues referred to it by the State government. The Commission will submit its report as soon as practicable but preferably within 15 months, a government release said.
