Dispur owes Rs 100 crore to hired vehicle owners

Guwahati, Oct 7: The offices of the Superintendents of Police and Deputy Commissioners in the State owe nearly Rs 100 crore to the owners of hired vehicles. Representatives of the All Assam Hired Vehicle Owners Association submitted a memorandum to the State DGP today highlighting their plight and demanding immediate disbursement of the amounts outstanding since 2010. The offices of the DCs and SPs are using over 800 hired vehicles. The SP offices alone owe nearly Rs 70 crore, the association said.
