FIR against Tarun Gogoi

GUWAHATI, March 29: Accusing Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi of using ‘unwanted and unparliamentary language’ against Aruchal Pradesh Governor JP Rajkhowa in a press conference held on December 19 last, advocate Osong Saroh of Gauhati High Court, Itagar Permanent Bench, harlagun, has filed an FIR at Itagar police station on Monday. In the FIR, Saroh has accused Gogoi of threatening ‘injury to public servant, crimil intimidation, statements conducing public mischief, intentiol insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace’ and sought action under section 189 IPC, 503 IPC, 504 IPC, 505 (1)(b)(C)(2) IPC AND 506 IPC. The advocate has taken offence on some of the comments made by Gogoi, where he had referred to JP Rajkhowa as ‘a BJP agent and RSS pracharak’, ‘JP Rajkhowa behaved like a stooge’, ‘he has turned the Raj Bhawan into a RSS office’ etc. Talking to The Sentinel over phone from Itagar, Saroh said, “By holding a press conference and commenting on a sub-judice matter, Gogoi misued his official position and power. It amounts to contempt of court. Gogoi’s comment on the Governor has not only injured the reputation of the Governor, but also threatened to provoke breach of peace.” It may be mentioned that a copy each of the FIR has also been forwarded to the President, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister among others.
